Dubai’s GDFRA Launches Its Services in Metaverse
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) of Dubai has launched a new AI-powered system where people can access their services through the metaverse.
This allows customers to interact with officials without physically visiting the department. This innovative system enables seamless communication between community members and officials, bringing them together in the metaverse.
To get started, all you need is a Virtual Reality (VR) headset and a device such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. The service offers a chance for visitors to engage with officials through a virtual meeting room. Customers can also visit the Amer center and choose a branch to complete transactions by taking a ticket. If they need to meet with an official, the service will redirect them to a conference video call service.
According to Ghalb Abdullah Al Merri, Director of Science, Data and Artificial Intelligence Department, the project is part of the department’s efforts to enhance cooperation with its customers and engage them in the design and development of services.
The Metaverse initiative aims to facilitate virtual meetings between customers and officers, eliminating the need for physical presence in the department.
The process is quite simple. Customers need to download the app on their mobile phones, put on their VR headsets and walk around the building. Before that, there is a virtual reception desk where a virtual assistant will handle all queries.
Alternatively, customers can visit any of the 60 Amer Centers in Dubai and choose a branch to take a ticket and submit their application. If they need to speak to an officer, the service will redirect them to a video call service. This system saves time, effort, and driving for customers who need to complete transactions or meet with officials.
